A pretty cool vintage Tudor Submariner I restored

A pretty cool vintage Tudor Submariner I restored for the original owner a couple of years back. Until it stopped running several years ago the owner wore this watch every day working on old boats. Overall he wanted to keep it as it is, except having the crystal replaced (I returned the original to him so he could keep it with the watch), so we decided on a complete mechanical service, new gaskets all around, and a cleanup on the case. I think it came out pretty well, and he messaged me a few months later saying that he was back to wearing it daily again so all the effort was definitely worth it.<br />

Another watch that I am glad to have added to my personal collection, a vintage 1960s Mitchell dive watch. I've always liked these models and thought they had a great look but had not really had a chance to pick one up. This one popped up online a couple of years ago and though it needed work (as the last picture shows) I thought with the dial and hand condition it was a great candidate for restoration.<br />
It got a complete mechanical service, vintage nos crown and stem, new crystal, a great looking vintage genuine pigskin strap, and professional case repair with factory quality case replate. <br />
I think it turned out pretty nice, and at 37mm these look pretty nice on the wrist. Thanks for checking it out!<br />

A pretty sharp Glycine Airman that I was lucky eno

A pretty sharp Glycine Airman that I was lucky enough to add to my personal collection a few years ago. I purchased it from the original owner, a helicopter pilot that flew for the US Military at the tail end of the Korean War and again during multiple tours in the Vietnam War, before coming home and flying helicopters commercially and working as a flight instructor. I had worked on his small collection multiple times over the years and now in his 90s he wanted to sell them to me because he knew I would take care of them. This one was a military px purchase, as was the Zodiac GMT I also got from him, and he alternated them during his entire time in Vietnam. <br />
This one got a complete mechanical service, new mainspring, NOS hack lever and screw, and a new custom fit crystal. The 25J Adjusted AS1700 keeps amazing time and I think looks great on this bracelet (had previously been on a stretch band). Thanks for checking it out!<br />

Considering that I have owned this watch for a few

Considering that I have owned this watch for a few years and never really had a chance to wear it, I thought it would be a good choice to wear to the beach for the first vacation we had gone on in more than 3 years. I have always thought the Lemania Elvstrom watches were cool and luckily this one found it's way to a friend of mine's shop. It was not running properly (center hand would not reset and the countdown took 30 minutes plus to shakily complete its cycle) but was in nice physical condition, and it was my favorite version of the Elvstrom with the all steel case, iridescent blue dial, and machined/engraved bezel. The Lemania 1345 in the Elvstrom is based on the Lemania 1340 (also used as the Omega 1040), and the rack system designed for the Regatta function is well made. <br />
A complete mechanical service, a little bit of adjustment to correct previous repair errors, and new gaskets installed in the crown and pusher and this one now functions perfectly. I paired it with a vintage steel Champion band that I think matches it pretty well. It performed well on vacation, even in the water mist and heat of the day while boating. I was hoping that wearing it would be my ticket to be allowed to Captain one of the boats while we were there, but no such luck ☹. Oh well, back to the real world and the million things I am behind on. <br />

A pretty awesome vintage Zodiac Aerospace GMT that I finished up for a customer a while back. These have always been classic models in my opinion, but the market is just now finally starting to respect them value-wise. This one was in pretty decent cosmetic shape but needed a mechanical refresh and the customer wanted a light refinish on the bracelet. A complete mechanical service, all new gaskets and a little work on the band and this one looks amazing.<br />

A super sharp watch from the personal collection,

A super sharp watch from the personal collection, I love the look of this 1950s Helbros Chronograph. All stainless steel 38mm case, great looking 3 color track dial with gold mirror numbers and oversized gold leaf hands, and a nice Venus 175 movement. What's not to love?? Paired with a genuine crocodile strap and vintage steel buckle, this one proves that great looks doesn't always depend on how much you spend. A complete service, new mainspring, and a little adjustment and it runs beautifully. <br />

A pretty sweet Steel Jaeger Lecoultre Jumbo Memovo

A pretty sweet Steel Jaeger Lecoultre Jumbo Memovox that I restored for a customer a while back. He had inherited it from his father (the original owner), and it still has it's original Gay Freres bracelet and signed crowns as well. You can see what it looked like when I received it in the last picture. This model has the super nice Lecoultre K825 bumper wind automatic alarm movement that I know some watchmakers have issues with (can take some time getting everything lined up under one bridge when putting it all back together, one of my mentors always called this caliber the "Pivot-breaker" because so many guys break the escape wheel pivots while trying lol) but I have always liked it. A complete mechanical service, a NOS genuine rotor axle, a crystal, and lots of cleanup and I thought this one turned out amazing. I have this same model in my collection, but I was still jealous of how nice this one was. A true classic in my opinion.<br />

The restoration of an awesome Wittnauer 245T GMT C

The restoration of an awesome Wittnauer 245T GMT Chronograph that I did early last year for my buddy @thetattooedwrist . I've always loved this model and the example he had just picked up looked great, it just needed a long overdue mechanical service and some cleanup and new gaskets in the case, pushers and crown. It would be hard to beat the excellent quality Valjoux 724 in these, it looks just as nice as it functions after servicing. A true classic, I'm glad I got the chance to help bring this one back to wristworthy. <br />

A nice result on the service/repair of this sharp

A nice result on the service/repair of this sharp little Minerva Chronograph, model reference 1335. This one has the excellent quality Minerva Caliber 13-20, which I really like working on. A complete mechanical service, new mainspring, new crystal, a NOS winding pinion, and a little work on the pushers and some chronograph adjustments and this one is ready to go. Accurate and smooth functioning, the owner should be happy with this one 😊 I will have to add one to my collection eventually. <br />

While I am continuing to finish up vintage chronographs for several patient customers, here is a really sharp one that I finished recently: Omega Seamaster Chronograph ref. 145.018. I really love the look of this one. Amazing dial and hands, and with an original signed crystal and crown it is about as nice as it gets. The mechanics are excellent with the Omega cal 861 inside. This one got the works so make sure to swipe through and check out the pics of the service and original pusher rebuild with new gaskets. <br />

While trying to thaw out from the most recent ice storm here I thought I would post this really nice Valjoux 92 powered Heuer Camaro I restored for a customer a while back. These have always been considered one of the really classic models from the era, with this case and dial design being used by multiple companies. I dont receive the Valjoux 92 as often for repair as other calibers, but it is a well made movement that I like working on. This one needed a full mechanical service, pusher rebuild, and all new gaskets. It turned out pretty nice I think. <br />

While I continue working to finish up Chronographs for customers, here is a really nice original Zodiac Super Seawolf 722 936 that I worked on for a customer. These Super Seawolfs are one of the top true dive watches ever made IMO, with great styling, heavy duty construction, and the mechanical accuracy to back it up. I did a complete service on this one, and replaced the gaskets (yes, even in the original screw-down crown). The 21J Zodiac 70-72 now runs just as nice as it looks. Ready to be enjoyed again<br />

A really nice 1960s Seaboard-Yacht Chronograph that I restored for a customer last year. The customer had inherited this watch and it was not running, had a few broken chronograph parts and missing screws, and was missing a pusher cap. Luckily I had a matching used pusher cap in my parts stash, and could source the remaing NOS parts it needed. A complete mechanical service and some additional work later and this one is a real stunner. Such an awesome look, I love that dial and handset. <br />

My first post for 2022 is a restoration I did back

My first post for 2022 is a restoration I did back in early 2021: a World War II German Pilot's Laco Beobachtungsuhr. I have always liked these watches, and at 55mm wide (not including the oversized crown) they are definitely impressive on the wrist. This watch had been passed down from father to son, and had a broken staff, cracked barrel arbor, broken mainspring, an extremely dented in caseback, and a broken crystal. The movements are very well made and easy to work on, but the lack of replacement parts available make them difficult to repair. I used to occasionally see parts for these floating around but once this was in the shop I couldn't find anything at all. Even the easier parts (crystal and mainspring) were nowhere to be found, in original or reproduction form. The staff, barrel arbor and crystal had to be custom made. I got lucky and found a mainspring that was close and worked well with the geneva stop-works barrel, and surprisingly all evidence of the caseback ever being dented went away once I did a little work reshaping it. After a complete service and the repairs it ran beautifully, great amplitude and timing. <br />

This recent restoration is just too good to not sh

This recent restoration is just too good to not share. This early Seawolf came in with some rust issues due to failure of the crown gasket at some point in its life. It had rust around the edge of the movement, and the setting parts (including the push button detent) were frozen in place. Luckily I have those original parts in stock so with a lot of rust repair cleanup, several NOS replacement parts including an original signed crown, and a complete mechanical service and new gaskets this one runs as well as it looks yet again. I love the no-date models, and paired with it's original steel stretch-link band it is quite a looker. It's back on the owner's arm and being enjoyed which is the best part of collecting vintage watches.<br />

A pretty sweet vintage Elgin USN Buships Dive Watc

A pretty sweet vintage Elgin USN Buships Dive Watch that I restored for a customer a while back. I've always loved these watches, not only the great looks but the history behind them. The customer inherited this one from his father in non-running condition. It looked great cosmetically, but after inspection I determined that a previous moisture exposure due to faulty gaskets had literally turned half the train wheels into swiss cheese. Luckily, besides the issues with the wheels there were no other problems as the damage did not spread. I picked up a complete non-running spare Elgin 647 to provide the needed original parts and after a complete service this one is keeping amazing time. After replacing the cracked crystal and gaskets (caseback and canteen cap) it is waterproof once again (though thankfully it will never be submerged again due to being a valuable collectible now). I'm happy to see this one brought back and being enjoyed once again. I will have to get one of these for my collection now<br />

One of my favorite modern watches, although I gues

One of my favorite modern watches, although I guess it is technically almost "vintage" now, the Tag Heuer 1000M Super Professional WS2110-3. IMHO the best dive watch Heuer has made, and along with the 90s Zodiac Super Seawolf, my favorite of the post 70s divers. Super Heavy Duty and meant for real use, I love the styling of this model with its iconic bezel and easy to read luminous dial/hands. You can see all the steps required just to case this one up so Heuer definitely wasn't messing around when they designed these. From the flat spots on a few bracelet links you can tell that someone wore this one quite a lot before it made it's way to me but it is in overall great shape and I'm glad to have one this nice in my collection. A complete mechanical service of it's great ETA base, all new gaskets and a new 2-piece stem from Tag and it's ready for more decades of service.<br />

Heading into July 4th Weekend with this sharp Wyler Heavy Duty 660 Dual Crown Diver Model 4104 D-1338. The blue on blue of this variant looks excellent in person. As with many of the other examples of this watch I have serviced over the years, this one was sent to me because the owner's usual watchmaker was not familiar with how these come apart and was afraid of damaging something. These have a Wyler signed ETA 2772 caliber inside (great movement), with the famous Wyler Incaflex balance. This one received a complete mechanical service, some extra work on the auto assembly, new gaskets, and a new crystal. Ready to wear and enjoy again!<br />

A vintage Bulova Surfboard Chronograph that I restored for a customer last year. Amazing patina on this one. This example had gotten a little moisture during its life so the service included not only addressing those issues but also making sure it didn't happen again any time soon. Complete service, all new gaskets, a few NOS chronograph parts and this one is ready to rock. Such a classic style from the era, they cant truly replicate it no matter how much they've tried.<br />
